[cabf_validation] LEI as the Registration number in EV TLS

Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding the use of the LEI number for Private Organization Subjects as the Registration number in an EV TLS certificate. I couldn’t find confirmation in the EVG that it can be used, so I assume it can't.


Has anyone encountered this situation before or can provide clarity on how this should be interpreted?

1.6.1 Definitions
Registration Number: The unique number assigned to a Private Organization by the Incorporating Agency in the entity’s Jurisdiction of Incorporation.


3.2.2.2.1 Verification Requirements
Registration Number: Obtain the specific Registration Number assigned to the Applicant by the Incorporating or Registration Agency in the Applicant’s Jurisdiction of Incorporation or Registration. If the Incorporating or Registration Agency does not assign a Registration Number, the CA SHALL obtain the Applicant’s date of Incorporation or Registration.
