I just realized that Gerv’s Ballot 204 includes revisions to the second paragraph of BR 3.2.2.4 as follows:

The CA SHALL confirm that, as of the date the Certificate issues, either the CA or a Delegated Third Party has validated each Fully‐Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) listed in the Certificate using at least one of the methods listed below, or is within the Domain Namespace of a Fully-Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) that has been validated using at least one of the methods listed below (not including the method defined in section 3.2.2.4.8). ***

Ballot 204 also makes certain changes to BR 3.2.2.4.6 and BR 3.2.2.4.11.

Ballot 190 makes extensive changes to BR 3.2.2.4 and readopts that entire section with the changes.  Voting on Ballot 204 ends on July 11, while voting on Ballot 190 ends on July 15.  If both ballots pass, Ballot 190 will wipe out the changes in BR 3.2.2.4 that are made by Ballot 204.  (We should try to avoid multiple ballots amending the same BR section in the future.)

To avoid this problem, I am adding a new Section 4 to Ballot 190 in the attached v6 draft, as follows:

“If both Ballot 204 and Ballot 190 pass, the changes to BR 3.2.2.4 in Ballot 204 shall be incorporated in and added to the changes to BR 3.2.2.4 in Ballot 190.”


Ballot 190 v6 (7-6-2017) is now the official Ballot 190 under consideration by the Forum.  The discussion period ends on July 8 at 18:00 UTC, after which voting will start.
