Hi Phill.  A couple of comments:


1. Nit: For consistency and to aid clarity, I'd change...

    o  If CAA(X) is not empty, R(X) = CAA (X), otherwise

...to...

    o  If CAA(X) is not empty, then R(X) = CAA(X), otherwise


2. Bug?: Shouldn't this...

    o  If A(X) is not null, and CAA(A(X)), then R(X) =
       CAA(X), otherwise

...actually be this...

    o  If A(X) is not null, and CAA(A(X)), then R(X) =
       CAA(A(X)), otherwise

?
